Meet the Teachers

Ms Beccy
Headteacher
My journey in education started in the East End of London many years ago, and I was tempted into International education by a post at the International School of the Seychelles in 1998. I have never looked back, and have subsequently worked in schools in Malaysia, Indonesia, Hong Kong, and currently, in Bangkok.
I have several years of international school leadership, including the Headship of Schools in Bali, Indonesia, and Hong Kong. I have worked with the English National Curriculum, Cambridge IGCSE and A Levels and all four IB Programmes – including, of course, the IB Diploma.
My Early Years roots of child-centred education has extended to my belief that successful learning in all age groups, from Early Years to Year 13, is student centred. Teacher-led, but student centred, which is the philosophy of education that we live and breathe here at HHIS.

Khun Gade
Thai Director
I graduated from Burapha university with a Bachelor degree in Education with Thai major. I have almost 20 years teaching experience in Thai and International schools.
These experiences have been important in the development of my teaching and leadership skills. One of the roles I particularly enjoy is promoting close relationships with parents.

Mr Lewis
Head of Secondary
I am proud to say that our students are the strength of HHIS. I thoroughly enjoy my role as Head of Secondary working with all students in Year 7 – Year 13, helping to shape future opportunities for all our learners and families. I qualified from the University of Southampton with a Business and IT Degree and then completed my Masters in Education with Portsmouth University. I have enjoyed a wide range of experiences and highlights, but I can certainly say the achievements we have enjoyed as a team at HHIS have been my proudest. Our school continues to grow and I look forward to guiding and celebrating our students’ future successes both in the classroom and beyond. The pathway at HHIS is very exciting!

Mr David
IB Coordinator and Humanities Teacher
I graduated from the University of Warwick with a history degree in 2008 and completed my teaching qualifications with Nottingham University. I have been teaching in Thailand since 2010 and have been fortunate enough to work with students aged 4-18 across a diverse range of subjects at HHIS. I am excited to continue sharing my passion for History with our IGCSE and IB students, as well as the core IB subjects ‘Theory of Knowledge’ and ‘Creativity, Activity, Service’.
Having taught many of our eldest students since they first joined the school, it fills me with immense pride to oversee the final leg of their journey with HHIS as IB Coordinator..

Mr Joe
Head of Key Stage Two and Y5 Class Teacher
I graduated from The University of Brighton in 2016 with a BA Education Studies degree (Honours), and then completed the PGCE in primary education. After the 6 years of teaching that followed, I joined HHIS: drawn in by its child-centred approach, welcoming staff and – of course – the beauty of Hua Hin. Beyond school, my ideal day would begin with gruelling exercise, followed by reading a good book in the sun with some delicious Thai food. I’d then explore a new place not previously visited, and finish off the day with a video call to my family & friends back in England.

Mrs Rachel
Head of Early Years and Key Stage One
As Early Years and Key Stage One phase leader, I am passionate about helping children to become independent, creative and inquisitive learners. My career in education began in child development, working with 0-5 year olds and progressed to qualifying with QTS in Primary Education and Art from Edge Hill University. I taught in the North-West of England in Early Years and KS1, and then my interest in travel and culture brought me to Thailand where I led the Early Years at an International School in Bangkok before joining HHIS in 2019. I feel privileged to be part of the inspiring HHIS community of staff, children and parents.

Mrs Ali
Key Stage Four Phase Leader and Business Studies Teacher
I have been a qualified teacher since 2008 and hold a PGCE and BA Hons. Degree in Business. I also enjoy rugby and hope to support a Touch Rugby team here at HHIS.
I am an enthusiastic teacher who is passionate about supporting young people in their learning journey but also in their development as young, confident adults.

From Sweden I moved to London to study, completing both a degree in Fine Art and a PGCE in Art and Design. Since then I have taught in London, Shanghai and Hong Kong – three amazing cities with very diverse and rich cultures.
I’m looking forward to sharing my years of experience and knowledge of art with the students at HHIS. I believe that art is not only about acquiring new skills and processes, but also encourages creativity, critical thinking and an understanding and empathy for other people, cultures and beliefs.
In my spare time I continue my own art practice. I also love being outdoors, especially hiking, free-diving and yoga.

Mr Richard

I previously taught in an International School in Bangkok and also taught for a number of years in the UK, taking on responsibility as Head of Maths. I fell in love with teaching, leading me to pursue a PGCE and a Masters of Education. I spent a few years lecturing in English Education at Kangwon National University but realised my passion ultimately lay in High School teaching, which I’ve been doing since 2019 and this is where I see my future. In my free time I like cycling and film photography, and finding excuses for long trips to combine the two!

I graduated from the University of Winchester with a combined honours in English Literature and Drama, then completed my PGCE at the University of Portsmouth. I am excited to share my passion for English Literature and Language to a range of studies from different cultural backgrounds.

Outside of the classroom, I am a huge sports fan – with a particular passion for rugby. I look forward to getting fully involved at HHIS.

Ms Barbara

I’ve been working with young people in outdoor education since my early 20s – from ambassador programmes to the Duke of Edinburgh award at my local centre in Portsmouth. Once I completed my MA in education, I then became qualified in the PGCE English secondary, and have since been able to apply the outdoor experiences to conceptual based learning in the classroom. I particularly love to teach the English subject underpinned with philosophy and critical thinking – especially in a plethoric age of information. Outside of the classroom, I am into my fitness, reading, and the general outdoors!

Being a part of the growth of sport here at HHIS has been incredibly fulfilling and I look forward to providing even more chances for students to enjoy playing and competing.

Supporting wellbeing is central to my role, I have trained in art therapy, mental health foundation and am a 200hr certified yoga teacher. Prior to joining HHIS, I taught in a school on the outskirts of Sheffield. During my time teaching in the UK I saw the value of developing a classroom environment and ethos where children can express their thoughts and ideas freely. Outside of school, I enjoy engaging in outdoor pursuits and most sports.

Ultimately, this led me to make the career change from finance to teaching.

Since I finished as Principal of a London college, I have been working with international and British students on university entrance and career guidance. I am excited about extending this role at HHIS, and working closely with the teachers, parents and students at the school.
