Message from the Headteacher

One of the community NGOs we work with is the Bright Dawn Foundation who provide educational support to primary schools in the local area. Every Friday, a group of Year 12 students visit one of the schools supported by the foundation, to help the students with their English lessons. This is a great leadership opportunity for our students.

A group of Year 10 students have also been inspired by the work done by the Bright Dawn Foundation. As part of the IGCSE Global Perspectives course, students are encouraged to consider global issues such as the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) and create projects to address these. One group of students, the Megaminds, is focusing on UN SDG number 4 “to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all". They learned that the schools supported by the Bright Dawn Foundation can only spend ฿22 per day for each student's food. They planned to raise awareness of the importance of good nutrition to support students to learn, and to raise funds to be able to support Bright Dawn's work. To this end they have organised a “Spirit Week” to raise awareness of and raise funds for the Bright Dawn Foundation. This kind of community engagement enriches the learning inside the classroom, develops our students’ leadership skills and reflects our caring and inclusive school community.

Secondary students are encouraged to support this cause by joining Spirit Week each day from 12th to 16th February. Primary students are encouraged to also join on Friday 16th February.

Please see the attached poster for the theme for each day of Spirit Week.
