Midsummer Night’s Dream
On the eve of Midsummer our KS3 students performed Shakespeare’s Midsummer Night’s Dream. It was an astoundingly powerful performance; it was beautiful, comical and enraptured us all. It think it is fair to say that we were all taken aback by the professionalism and majesty of the whole production. The actors were superb; delivering long, eloquent speeches and soliloquies with aplomb. It was also a totally student-led production, the ‘behind the scenes’ team of technicians as well as prop and costume creators should also be congratulated; it was a team effort.
I thank our KS3 students for giving us such a wonderful Shakespearean evening. A huge thank you to Mr Jeremy, Ms Deven and Ms Faye for their immense support and guidance to the students. The video is on our website page:http://www.huahinschool.com/midsummer-nights-dream (Thank you to Priya for the video and photos)
Early Years’ Stars
Pop stars came to our school on Friday in the form of our very own Early Years students and what shining stars they were. It was hard to believe that these 2 to 5 year olds had learnt their lines, delivered them to perfection and then added in singing and dancing; their carried it off with so much confidence and exuberance. Their obvious enjoyment, smiles and sense of fun gave us all a morning to remember. Thank you to all our Early Years staff for all their hard work to organise this wonderful fun-filled spectacle.
Congratulations to Nin, Alisa and Ping An for their successful gradings in Karate at the end of this term. Huge thanks to John, who formed the Wado Karate Club – Hua Hin at HHIS right from very opening of our school in 2015. John is a volunteer, black belt 3rd Dan Karate instructor, giving his time for the students just because he loves passing on his passion. We look forward to even more students benefiting from his expertise and enthusiasm next year.
Our whole school community has worked together to organise International Day this year. Parents, staff and students have all worked to get everything in place for a fun-filled day that is meaningful and embraces our mission to take action towards attaining the United Nation Global Sustainable goals. Each one of us is part of the global team and we can make a difference.
I thank you all in advance for all the work that I know has been going on in preparation for the day.
Our international picnic promises to be a wonderful international feast and given the generosity of you parents, I think there may be some finger foods left after the students have had their picnic. We do therefore invite parents to come at 3:20pm to buy 20 THB vouchers and purchase foods from across the world.
All proceeds from the day will go to the charity ‘One Tree Planted’ as chosen by our students.
Open Afternoon for Early Years and Primary Students
Parents of children in Early Years and from Years 1 to Year 5 are invited to come into school on Wednesday June 26th so that your children can show you their favourite pieces of work in their books, on wall displays and on video recordings. Please do come to your children’s classroom between 2:30pm and 3:30pm.
Last Day of Term
Friday June 28th is the last day of this academic year and at the request of students we are having an informal talent show in the morning in our outside area. This will be held at 8:40am.
This is just a reminder that when you are buying new shoes in readiness for the new term, our school uniform code asks that students wear dark or white shoes that are comfortable and allow students to be active at break times.
Also, buying uniform that allows a little bit of growth is a good idea. Some skirts and shirts have got a little short at the tail end of the year. Thank you for your support with this.
Open Morning – Friday August 16th
The school office is open during the holidays but we do have an open morning on Friday August 16th from 10:00am until 12:00am. This is a very informal morning for parents and students to drop in and meet new staff, buy any uniform or just to come in and have a chat.
End of the Year
I would like to give my personal thanks for all the support you have given to the school over the year. The culmination of this term has shown how very special our students are; their confidence, respect for each other as well as their planet and their zest for learning and life are just amazing. I would also like to pay tribute to the great team of teachers and staff that I am privileged to work with.
The school continues on its upward journey with more adventures and excitement to come in the next year. The new term begins on Monday August 19th.
