We promise: Independent, confident, lifelong learners
HHIS Newsletter – August 19th 2019
Monday August 19th 2020
I hope you have all had a very relaxing holiday. The students are certainly raring to go; it was great to see their beaming faces and see their excitement as they came through the school gates.
We extend a particularly warm welcome to all our new students. We have 48 students joining us all through the school and now have 250 students in total. Our ‘I’ values are always prominent in our everyday practice and our students are wonderful at making new friends and making sure that everyone quickly feels Included. So I know that all our new members of our community will quickly feel secure, happy and ready to learn.
We also welcome new staff into our growing school.
Phase Leader Roles
Congratulations to Mr Matt for becoming our Key Stage 2 phase leader and to Ms Jo and Ms Rachel. We are very happy that Mr Lewis continues as our KS3/4 phase leader.
Phase leader roles are becoming increasingly important in our growing school as they manage and lead each of our key stages.
Key Stage Meetings
Over the next two weeks Phase leaders will be leading meetings for parents to outline the curriculum for the term, homework routines, reading book systems and general organisation for the term ahead. This is a perfect time for parents to ask questions so please do come if you can. You will be warmly welcomed.
International Residential Visit
Our Secondary students are shortly venturing off of our first International Residential visit. There will be a meeting on Friday August 23rd at 8:30am in the Art Studio in the Secondary building. This for the parents of Year 9 – 11 students who are joining the trip. We look forward to sharing further information about this exciting venture.
As our school grows we need to be really clear about the way the school and parents take and use photographs, the way we use buses for local visits and to ensure that we all have clarity regarding our first aid insurance. For this reason we have set out a parental agreement for you to sign giving permissions as appropriate. The form is attached to this newsletter and will also be sent home as a paper version for you to sign and return to class teacher.
I am of course very happy to answer any questions.
Ring Pull Donations
Over the summer, our ring-pull collection was sent to the Prostheses Foundation of H.R.H the Princess Mother. The foundation will now sell those ring-pulls to help fund the creation of prosthetic limbs for amputees in Thailand. Thank you to everyone who donated, with an especially big thanks to Alisa for her very dedicated collection.
There is a really great feel to the school today. It is super to see the students so keen to get back, not just to their friends and teachers but to their learning. I have the sense that this is going to be an especially exciting year for HHIS.
