It seems everyone enjoyed their half term break but they are all also happy to be back to school. There is certainly a lot to look forward to this coming half term, with new topics, events and challenges ahead.
Events ahead this term
Basketball is a focus for students in Y6 to Y11 over the next five weeks in Physical Education. Intra-school games will be taking place as well as our first entry into the local basketball league.
Enterprise and Interview Tips
We wish our Year 9 students the best of luck in their forthcoming interviews that start this week. Students have been very busy completing CVs and Application Letters and they gained excellent interview tips working with Claire Cordner. Students really enjoyed the real life enterprise learning and are now excited about the opportunity to participate in a work interview.
Ms Rachel and the Early Years team will be leading a phonics workshop for parents on Friday October 25th at 8:40am in the meeting room. Ms Rachel will share how our youngest children make their first steps in reading and writing and how parents can support their children’s development.
Celebrations in ECAsKarate
Congratulations to Izzy for excelling in her second ‘orange’ assessment in Karate ECA. Mr John was full of praise for Izzy’s commitment and dedication.
UKMT Maths ECA
During the first term students in the Maths ECA have been stretching their analytic muscles with knights, knaves, logic gates, and more! We have engaged with a logic course that starts with a love of puzzles and builds up to some truly mind-bending challenges. It covers liar and truth-teller riddles, logical fallacies, machine logic, and even some strategic game theory. Enjoyment is high and students are learning skills that will allow them to access team challenges in International Maths competitions. It is especially ‘Inspiring’ to see Year 9 students supporting and using mathematical language to explain theory to year 5 and 6 students in such an inclusive way!
Please be reminded that Wednesday October 23rd is a public holiday. Our school is closed.
