We promise: Independent, confident, lifelong learners
HHIS Newsletter – May 20th 2019
Monday May 20th 2019
I am very happy to be back in school after a busy but successful recruitment visit to London last week. We have a highly qualified and enthusiastic group of UK teachers joining our team in August. We have been very fortunate to have been able to select from a very strong field.
I have also walked back into the build up to the opening of the Art exhibition this afternoon. Early previews look amazing and a true celebration of ‘Colours’, the theme of our recent Art week.
IB Workshop for all parents
We will be holding a parent workshop on Thursday 23rd May at 3.30pm to share further details about the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. This is a globally recognised qualification and enables students aged 16 – 19 to join universities across the world. The workshop will be in the Year 1 Classroom, opposite to Early Years. All parents are very welcome to join for coffee and to find out more. The workshop will end at 4.30pm. If you have any questions, please do contact firstname.lastname@example.org .
Duke of Edinburgh Award – Bronze Expedition
Thirteen students from Years 9 and 10 have successfully completed their Bronze level expedition for the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award.
Hiking for about 8 hours per day they followed trails in the Sam Roy Yot National Park area. They were required work as independents teams and had to carry everything with them, including food, cooking equipment and tents.
As part of the route, the students had the chance to walk on trails not normally open to the public. In the area of Phraya Nakhon cave, they followed a tough route along the rim of where the light shines down onto the throne hall in the cave. Everyone in the group has found this to be a challenging and rewarding journey and will carry with them great memories of working together to face obstacles on the path. Well done to all the students that chose to push their boundaries and move outside their comfort zone!
Thank you to Mr Alasdair and Mr Sam for organising and supporting this expedition. The students are still buzzing with the exhuberation of completing the challenge this morning.
Hua Hin Run to Give
The 2019 edition of the Hua Hin Run to Give event is planned for Sunday 22nd September, starting at 5.45am. We have reserved places for our school entry. Families can therefore register details using the link provided and this means you do not need to register again with the race organiser.
The registration fee is 450 THB per runner and this can be paid to our finance office. All money goes to support local charities and we are very proud that already many students are saying they are inspired to run together to help others.
