We promise: Independent, confident, lifelong learners
HHIS Newsletter – June 22nd 2020
Monday June 22nd 2020
Representatives from the Ministry of Education visited the school last week and stated that they were impressed with the measures that we have taken to prevent the spread of COVID-19. We were able to show that we have strictly adhered to all 44 of the Government’s detailed requirements, encompassing social distancing, hygiene and cleaning procedures as well as educating our students to continue to be aware of the actions that they need to take to keep themselves safe.
Students and staff have adapted well and it is a real pleasure to see all the students back in school, enjoying and engaging with interactive learning.
Drop-offs and Pick-Ups
Thanks to the whole HHIS community working together, the starts and ends of our school days have gone much smoother than I could have hoped. Thank you all for making this work.
Here is one further way that you can help make the system even smoother. The road outside school is a one-way only at pick-up and drop-off times. Entry is from the golf course end and exit is at the wakeboard park end. We are grateful to ‘Black Mountain’ for supporting this.
Please turn left only when coming out of the Main gate drop-off zone. This allows parents who are picking up from the Secondary gate to come on the outside lane of the queues for the Primary gate. This will not only make pick-ups smoother but safer too. Thank you!
Early Years Pick Ups and Drop Offs
Please could you ensure that entrances to residents are kept clear at all times and park well away from residents’ houses whilst waiting for your children to come out at the end of the day. It is really important for us to be kind and considerate to our neighbours. Thank you!
Early Years and Key Stage One Class teachers
Here are the teachers and classes for our Early Years children and Key Stage one from August. We will inform you tomorrow, of Class allocations for individual students.
Primary Classes will be having some time with their new teachers on Thursday to help make the move as smooth as possible for them. We are also happy that Ms Dawn is going to be ‘Zooming’ in too. Ms Terri-Anne met her new Year 8 tutor group last week as well. All these sessions just help to reassure students about their next stage.
Mr Steve, our Librarian, will be doing an audit of library books over the holidays so please search out and return all library books by the end of the week. Thank you.
Our new order of books is on a ship on the way to us from the UK.
End of Year reports to parents will be sent out on Thursday. Reports are a time for celebration and for looking ahead to the next targets and next steps for learning and growth. Reading through the reports has shown me just how much progress has been made through the year. Innovation and self-motivation have been particularly highlighted as strengths in the reports. If there are any points that you would like to follow up please do get in touch with class, form or subject teachers.
Swimming Pool Construction
The construction of our 25m swimming pool has now restarted. We look forward to our first swims and next swimming gala in October.
