We promise: Independent, confident, lifelong learners
HHIS Newsletter – June 10th 2019
Monday June 10th
Many thanks to the parents who came to the meeting with our International Baccalaureate Consultant. We were delighted to gain confirmation that we are well on the way towards becoming a IB World School. The consultant was particularly impressed with the ethos of the school and our approaches to teaching and learning.
The success of the visit was a tribute to the preparations being made by Mr Lewis and the Secondary Phase team.
It was a joy to watch all our swimmers in action in the three different galas. They have improved so much over the year and we witnessed some great achievements, progress and triumphs. What was also of great note, were the smiles and wonderful camaraderie on display.
Congratulations to the winning teams: Green team won the Junior Gala and the Red team won the Senior gala trophy.
Thank you for all your support in these events.
A big thank you to Ms Pla, Mr Matt and Mr Aaron for their coaching through the year and to Ms Pla for the smooth organisation of all the galas.
International Day – June 27th
Year 3 are launching our ‘Be kind to our World’ sponsored event today. We are asking our Primary students to do good deeds for the environment and to be sponsored for their events. The aim is that the students will understand that they can take direct action to look after our world and also raise some funds for their chosen charity: ‘One Tree Planted’ http://onetreeplanted.org
Details of this event will be sent on Tuesday June 11th
Thank you to those who have offered to provide the students with healthy finger foods from around the world. These will be enjoyed on our International Day picnic – and thank you too for understanding the need to show our students that we are all working together to reduce the use of plastic.
Our U16 basketball teams visited Somtawin school last week. The boys team competed well against very organised opposition and they scored some good points. The girls team had plenty of possession, they played with far more confidence than their last outing. The two teams were separated by two points, a very exciting game to watch and take part in.
Introducing our New Teachers
A reminder that tomorrow (Tuesday, June 11th) at 8:35am I will be holding a meeting to give information about the new teachers who will be joining our team in August. Please do come if you can and any questions about general issues are very welcome.
