We promise: Independent, confident, lifelong learners
HHIS Newsletter – February 25th 2019
Monday February 25th 2019
I hope you have all had an enjoyable half term break.
As you are aware I am in London this week to recruit additional teachers. The week ahead is busy, and surprisingly mild here in the UK, but we are very excited about the calibre of candidates we going to be interviewing.
As the winter is drawing to a close we continue to monitor the air quality around our school and take any necessary action to ensure that our children are safe. To further enhance our environment we are are planting more trees, trialling air filters and working with our local community to limit any practices that affect our quality of air.
With this newsletter I am pleased to share some of the highlights from the final week before half term.
We had a day full of love, friendship and cupcakes to conclude the last half term on Valentines Day. Our Year 10 students organised a very popular dress up day and their cupcakes were very well received. The event raised 10,500THB for the charity Jungle Aid for their work with the Palu Community. Year 10 students would like to thank all students and parents for their support.
Our Y3/4 team are continuing to develop and it was very encouraging to see them in their opponents half of the pitch, creating lots of goal scoring opportunities. They scored two goals through Max!
Y5/6 passed the ball very well, often with one or two touches. The first goal was a result of some fast and accurate passing, that started from Jay, our goalkeeper and was finished by Fong. Fong also scored the second goal in a far more direct manner, scoring direct from kick off!
Well done to all of our players involved. Your hard work and ongoing commitment to the team has been excellent. Mr Aaron.
Year 4 Assembly – Being an Individual
What wonderful individuals our Y4 students are! Their assembly was quite moving as they gave us insights to the way that each and every one of them has different interests, talents, passions and qualities. It was super to celebrate why each of them is unique and so very special. They inspired us all to be true to ourselves.
Friday Afternoon Art Celebration Assembly
It was an absolute joy to celebrate the wonderful Art work in our school. As part of a recent competition, over 100 students produced the most imaginative work. Students from Early Years up to IGCSE level were all involved and on Friday we had the opportunity to congratulate some of our winners. A very big well done and your certifications are a lovely reward for your work.
We wish all our swimmers good luck as they venture up to Bangkok next weekend for ‘Marlins’ Mayhem’ swimming meeting.
I wish everyone a very good week and I look forward to my return on Monday 4th March. Whilst I am in England, Mr Lewis will take responsibility for the whole school. Phase leaders are of course responsible for their areas but Mr Lewis will take overall responsibility in my absence.
