We promise: Independent, confident, lifelong learners
HHIS Newsletter – April 22nd 2019
Monday April 22nd
Welcome back to term 3. I do hope you all had a very enjoyable and fun Songkran holiday. It was certainly a hot one.
Term 3 begins
As always the term ahead offers new opportunities, experiences and events to motivate and inspire our students.
Our first message in our assembly this morning, was to extend a warm welcome to the eight new students who joined our school today.
We also welcomed Khun Eh, who gave us a very uplifting and calming start to the term as she performed for us on the keyboard. Khun Eh is a highly notable international musician and will be offering a music ECA this term.
Mr Jeremy has been working on an even broader array of ECAs. The information sheet will be sent out to parents on Monday afternoon and the sign up sheet will be open on Tuesday at 10:00am.
ECAs start on Monday April 29th. We understand that there may be some changes after the first week, but then students must commit to their choices; we can not make refunds.
HHIS I Values
Our assembly launched the I values focuses for this term: Inquisitive and International. We took inspiration from Sir David Attenborough’s recent highly influential and powerful film and words. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aETNYyrqNYE Our International Day on June 27th will focus on the UN’s ‘Sustainable Development Goals’ This day will further promote actions and involvement that we can all take as individuals and as a community to address global challenges. It is one of the highlights of our School Calendar.
Mechai Foundation Visit
We were delighted to welcome Khun Isadore, representatives from the Mechai Foundation and the Director and teachers from Wang Bost School just before the holidays. Our school has been chosen to join the national ‘School Gateway Project’ which aims to help International Schools become gateways for social and economic advancement in their surrounding communities. We are of course very happy to already be working with Wang Bost School and the Bright Dawn charity; this support will add further momentum to community outreach partnerships.
The Term Ahead
We are very excited to be launching our very first Arts week on the 29th April. The theme is colour and will include a range of creative activities inside and outside of the classroom using a wide variety of techniques and materials. We hope that you will participate in the ‘I wish walkway’- an installation in which you can add your wishes for the future.Ms Faye
Power Kids Studio will be coming to our school to take photographs or the whole school during May 1st to 3rd 2019. We will send out the exact schedule next week.
